While some policies here may apply only to certain categories, relevant distinctions will be highlighted.

Key policies include:
- Substance Use: A drug-free workplace is required—illegal drug use and misuse of alcohol or drugs are prohibited.
- Hazard Communication: Employees working with hazardous chemicals must follow WISHA standards and understand associated risks.
- Mandatory Reporting: Suspected child abuse or neglect must be reported immediately to authorities.
- Violence Prevention: The University prohibits domestic violence, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual assault, and promotes a workplace free from threats or harm.
- Nondiscrimination & Inclusion: UW enforces strict policies against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including protections under Title IX and related laws.
- Whistleblower Protection: Employees can safely report improper governmental actions without fear of retaliation.
- Training & Programs: Required safety trainings and ongoing health and safety programs support a culture of well-being.
Support & Reporting Resources
- Report accidents, injuries, or hazards to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).
- Access help from UW Police, SafeCampus, and CareLink (Employee Assistance Program).
- For complaints (e.g., discrimination or harassment), options include supervisors, the Ombud, or the University Complaint
- Investigation and Resolution Office (UCIRO).
- The Office of the Ombud serves the UW community by providing high-quality, client-focused services for preventing, managing, navigating, and resolving conflict at the university.
- The Faculty Liaisons are a new resource created in partnership by the President’s Office and the faculty leadership to support faculty navigating workplace conflict or engaging in formal university processes.
- Teaching@UW is designed to help faculty develop an effective, learner-centered teaching practice.
- The Office of Research provides administrative resources and training opportunities for principal investigators, including proposal resources and funding management.
- UW-IT provides technical resources for teaching, researching, and planning.
- UW Transportation features information on commuting and parking options.
