Formerly known as second year reviews.

Clock-managed faculty and librarians must be reviewed for reappointment during their initial 3-year appointment. This process–known as the Academic Review–includes various steps at the local level and is managed primarily through Workday.

Academic reviews must be completed and candidates notified of outcomes by the following deadlines:

  • Faculty with a 9-month service period: June 15 of the second year of appointment
  • Faculty with a 12-month service period: June 30 of the second year of appointment
  • Sr. Assistant Librarians: June 30 of the third year year of appointment

Academic Review decisions must be entered into Workday prior to the end of the academic year in which they occur.

To identify populations requiring an academic review and to process the decision in Workday, unit administrators should complete the following steps:

Step 1: Run R0658: Appointments Missing Academic Review Dates to identify all academic personnel with blank Academic Review Date fields.
Step 2: Follow process guidance in the ISC’s Maintain Promotion Clock user guide to update Workday records for those with blank Academic Review Date fields.
Step 3: Run R0353.2: Academics with Approaching Academic Review Date to identify all academic personnel in your unit needing Academic Reviews
Step 4: Ensure eligible members of the unit vote on whether to support reappointment.
Step 5: Use the Update Academic Appointment business process in Workday to record Academic Review decisions
