Position Description
The Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle seeks to hire a 50% part-time lecturer for the 2022-2023 academic year to teach three courses during Winter (Jan 3 – Mar 10, 2023) and Spring (Mar 27 – June 2, 2023). Depending on the availability of funding, this position may be renewed in future years.
Our desired course offerings are:
- Body Politics (200-level, Spring): introduction to the social construction of biology and processes of gendering
- Reproductive Justice Politics (200-/300-level, Winter): survey of historical legacies and movements and analysis of global, contemporary politics
- Embodied Ecologies (300-/400-level, Winter): feminist approaches to the Anthropocene at the interface of environment and body
Applicants are welcome to suggest courses drawing on their own interests and expertise that address the issues listed above. In addition to classroom instruction, teaching responsibilities include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing courses materials (e.g. syllabus, tests) and maintaining a course website.
Qualifications
PhD in GWSS or related field and prior teaching experience
