Position Description

The School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership (SNHCL) at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for non-tenure track, temporary part-time lecturer positions to teach in SNHCL's Healthcare Leadership program, RN-BSN program and/or Master of Nursing program. The appointment period is during the 2022-2023 academic year and is in alignment with the academic quarter. The position is dependent on curricular need and available funding. Part-time lecturers are non-voting members of the UW Tacoma faculty. 

The successful candidate’s primary duties for this position are instructional. Teaching needs include: 

In the Healthcare Leadership Program:
THLEAD 380: Healthcare Budgetary Analysis and Financial Decision Making
THLEAD 405 and THLEAD 406: Health Informatics I and Health Informatics II
THLEAD 420: Healthcare Accreditation and Legal Issues
T HLTH 440: Business of Healthcare 
THLEAD 480: Healthcare Leadership Fieldwork

In the RN-BSN Program:
T NURS 407: Diversity, Health and Inequities

In the Master of Nursing Program:
T NURS 527: Healthcare Systems and Health Policy
T NURS 539: Healthcare Business Strategies: Optimizing Resources
T NURS 556: Quality and Safety in Healthcare Settings

The position may require on-site face-to-face availability for course instruction, online/hybrid instruction, or remote synchronous instruction and teaching assignments may include days and/or evenings. Teaching excellence is expected of all successful candidates. 

UWT’s School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership current offerings include RN-BSN, MN, and Healthcare Leadership. The RN-BSN program focuses on critical thinking, cultural diversity, communication, and working with communities. The MN Program study options are Leader in Healthcare Delivery and Nurse Educator. The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Healthcare Leadership is for students who wish to pursue a career in a leadership role. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree 

  • Demonstrated experience teaching 

  • Commitment to and understanding of the learning needs of diverse adult learners
