Assistant Professor WOT | Psychologist

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking candidates for one full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding in either the clinician-teacher or faculty-scientist pathway.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.

Job Duties

  • Treatment of children and youth with affective disorders.
  • Involved in clinical care, the organization and design of services, and in clinical research.
  • Will involve a mix of direct clinical service, and, as funding permits, research and program development.
  • Opportunities for teaching psychology residents, child psychiatry fellows, and psychiatry residents who rotate through the clinical service.
  • Mood and Anxiety Program, where this position is clinically based, covers the range of affective disorders in children and youth.

Seattle Children's Hospital

Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) is a large tertiary medical center affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine and serving a four-state area. Seattle Children’s provides a wide continuum of programming for children in the Pacific Northwest that address community-based care and prevention. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is a focus program at SCH and receives extraordinary support for its important role in the Northwest.

Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is an integral component of the UW School of Medicine and shares UW Medicine’s mission to ‘Improve the Health of the Public.’ We accomplish this by providing the best care we can today, conducting research to develop better treatments for tomorrow, and inspiring and training the next generation of health care professionals for the Pacific Northwest. As the only academic psychiatry department serving Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho, we are committed to improving access to psychiatric care and consultation throughout the greater Pacific Northwest. Our educational programs include a required medical student clerkship for 260 medical students per year at some 30 sites across the WWAMI region, a nationally competitive psychiatry residency program with more than 90 psychiatry residents in Seattle and in two regional residency tracks in Idaho and Montana, subspecialty fellowships in addiction, child and adolescent, consultation-liaison, perinatal mental health and geriatric psychiatry, a nationally renowned scientist-practitioner psychology internship program, and numerous post-doctoral clinical and research fellowships.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The base salary range for an Assistant Professor position will be $9,167 - $11,750 per month ($110,004 - $141,000 annually).

Additional compensation associated with this position may include incentive payments through Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan.

  1. A PhD, PsyD, EdD or foreign equivalent and eligibility for a Washington State license.
  2. APA approved internship or if internship is not APA eligible, then must meet the requirements listed in WAC 246-924-056.
