UW Continuum College (UWC2) has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time instructor in the Business Analytics and Data Storytelling course during the summer quarter of 2024. This course is part of the Business Intelligence for Global Entrepreneurship (BIGE) non-credit certificate program.

We are looking for an instructor to teach the following module in this course. This is the first of three modules.

Technical Tools for Strategic Business (6 weeks, approx. 4 hours per day 9:00 AM start, M-F)

Students will complete an in-depth exploration of business needs, identify and understand how to use available data resources to their advantage, design data-driven hypothesis for impactful business solutions, and develop a comprehensive test protocol for solutions-testing. Students will gain a deeper appreciation for how data is collected and analyzed, and become comfortable with analyzing data to drive business decisions.  

Instructors serve a key role in certificate programs, engaging with students, serving as subject matter experts, presenting learning content, and assessing whether learners have achieved course competencies. 

The pay range for instructor positions is $1200-1500 per CEU* per course, commensurate with experience and qualifications. *The full course is the equivalent of 18 CEUs, module one is the equivalent of 10.8 CEUs). 

Instructors...

  • Teach to a set curriculum plan with clear learning outcomes and competencies
  • Prepare a course syllabus in advance of the course start date (full curriculum provided)
  • Ensure that lesson plans and presentation materials for the full course are relevant and current
  • Teach all class sessions at the scheduled time and location
  • Respond to student inquiries and provide feedback on student assignments in a timely manner  
  • Coordinate with other instructors in the certificate program, to ensure curriculum continuity across courses and modules
  • Adapt instructional techniques based on feedback from students and the Program Manager, and implement sound pedagogical practices
  • Complete instructor onboarding, relevant learning technology training, and other training as needed
  • Collaborate with IELP and UWC2 staff to ensure course materials meet University accessibility requirements and standards
  • Observe FERPA, HIPAA, and other privacy laws and policies.
  • Participate in 1-2 instructor meetings and information sessions per year

UWC2 Extension Lecturers / Instructors are Academic Staff, not faculty. These are part-time, temporary positions.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum three years of professional experience relevant to the course topics.
  • Prior experience teaching / training international adult learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability, and desire, to successfully work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Willingness to teach with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and content relevance for diverse adult students.
  • Legal authorization to work and receive compensation in the United States.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience or credentials related to the course topics.
