Position Description
The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position. This position will be at the Assistant Professor level, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), and will have clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is anticipated to start in July 2024.
The successful candidate will provide both outpatient and inpatient care at the Hansen’s and Madison Clinic and Infectious Diseases Clinic at Harborview Medical Center, and ID consults service at UWMC and Harborview and on the General Internal Medicine Service. Duties of this position also include serving as the Director of the Hansen’s Disease clinic, providing rare expertise for the treatment of patients with leprosy in the Pacific Northwest region. The successful candidate will lead clinical instruction (whilst seeing patients) of medical students, residents and fellows. Development of research projects relevant to clinical practice in the area of mycobacterial infections will be supported. The candidate will also develop a telehealth program focused on infectious diseases in the WWAMI region.
The base salary range for this position will be: $15,448 - $16,987 per month ($185,376 - $203,844 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), be eligible for medical licensure in Washington state, and be board eligible/board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Successful candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of infectious disease patients. Additionally, they must demonstrate scholarly research related to HIV and STIs. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
