Position Description
The University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a candidate with laryngology training to join our faculty as a full-time academic clinician at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT). Academic title/rank will be commensurate with experience/qualifications.
This is a unique opportunity to build a comprehensive otolaryngology practice in a large, diverse and growing metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing full-spectrum laryngology and general otolaryngology services within an academic and community based clinical environment. This position is primarily focused on clinical care and resident education, although opportunities for scholarship are encouraged.
Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
This position is based at the Seattle VA Hospital and the University of Washington Medical Center Northwest Campus. The candidate will contribute to a multi-disciplinary environment which includes fellow, resident, and medical student teaching. The anticipated start date is July of 2023.
Salary:
Assistant Professor WOT Rank:
The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor WOT rank will be: $22,083 - $23,750 per month ($265,000 - $285,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the VA and UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may incentive through UW Physicians practice plan.
Associate Professor WOT Rank:
The base salary range for this position at the Associate Professor WOT rank will be: $27,500 - $31,667 per month ($330,000 - $380,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include an MD, certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology, completion of laryngology fellowship, and eligible for a Washington State medical license.
This position is only open to U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.
Candidates should have a background and a track record of clinical and scholarly productivity.
