Position Details

Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) is proud to be one of the nation’s premier educational and research institutions. Our people are the most important asset in our pursuit of achieving excellence in education, research, and community service.

UW Continuum College expands the reach of the University of Washington by delivering educational programs that meet the needs of learners at all phases of their lives. We’re focused on removing obstacles to relevant educational opportunities by addressing geographic, financial, length of commitment, and time constraints, increasing access to knowledge for more people. As a diverse community that values inclusivity and collaboration, we foster a respectful, supportive workplace where innovation comes to life. By looking ahead and experimenting with new approaches, we’re creating new educational opportunities to help people thrive in a world of change.

UW Continuum College (UWC2) has an outstanding opportunity for an Extension Lecturer (part-time) in the Global Business Certificate (GBC) Program. Each GBC elective course is 17.7% fte. An instructor is needed to teach two sections of an elective course each quarter for the coming year (Autumn 2022 through Summer 2023), for a total fte of 35.4% each quarter. This appointment will initially be for autumn quarter 2022 with the possibility of renewal for subsequent quarters.

  • Autumn & Spring Quarters: Two (2) sections of International Negotiations (NEGS). If only one section of either course is offered, instructor would teach a section of another GBC elective (e.g., Business Presentation Skills (BPS) or Writing for Business (WBUS)
  • Winter & Summer Quarters: Two (2) sections of Application & Interview Preparation (AIP)

GBC Electives meet a total of ten (10) times per quarter for 2.5 hours each, typically once a week. Depending on the quarter schedule, classes may on occasion need to meet more than one time in a week.   Summer quarter courses meet just nine (9) weeks with slightly longer class periods.

There is some flexibility on which days and times the courses are offered each quarter, but classes are typically held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.
