Position Description
The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position to be based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). This position will include conducting research on primary and mental health care in low-income and underserved settings, as well as serving as a provider at the Department of Corrections (DOC) Coyote Ridge: an adult, all male, correctional facility. Teaching duties will include giving resident teaching conferences at HMC, providing statewide CME for DOC personnel, and organizing a resident rotation through DOC.
This position will be at the Assistant Professor rank (without tenure due to funding) on the physician/scientist pathway. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date would be January 2, 2023.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.
Eligible candidates must have an established record of at least one year as a teacher in a university setting, with both medical students and residents. Applicants must show evidence of scholarly productivity and peer-reviewed publications of original studies.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
