Mandatory Promotions

Due to Academic HR by December 15 each year:

  • Assistant Professor to Associate Professor
  • Assistant Professor without Tenure to Associate Professor without Tenure
  • Associate Professor without Tenure – 3 year to Associate Professor
  • Professor without Tenure – 3 year to Professor
  • Research Assistant Professor to Research Associate Professor
  • Clinical Assistant Professor – Dental Pathway to Clinical Associate Professor – Dental Pathway
  • APL Assistant Professor – APL Associate Professor

Non-Mandatory Promotions

Due to Academic HR by February 1 each year:

  • Artist-in-Residence to Senior Artist-in-Residence
  • Associate Professor to Professor
  • Associate Professor without Tenure to Professor without Tenure
  • Clinical Associate Professor to Clinical Professor – Dental Pathway track
  • Lecturer, full-time to Senior Lecturer
  • Research Associate Professor to Research Professor
  • Senior Lecturer to Principal Lecturer
  • All early promotions (submitted prior to the mandatory year)
  • Awards of Tenure: for example, Associate Professor without Tenure to Associate Professor

Due to Academic HR by March 1 each year:

  • Clinical positions (except Dental Pathway)
  • Affiliate positions

Early promotions (prior to mandatory year) include:

  • Assistant Professor to Associate Professor
  • Assistant Professor without Tenure to Associate Professor without Tenure
  • Research Assistant Professor to Research Associate Professor
  • Clinical Assistant Professor – Dental Pathway to Clinical Associate Professor – Dental Pathway
  • APL Assistant Professor to APL Associate Professor
