Academic Personnel & Faculty Affairs

At the University of Washington Office for Academic Personnel and Faculty, Academic Personnel & Faculty Affairs provides comprehensive guidance and support for faculty, librarians, residents and fellows, postdocs, and academic staff. We are dedicated to advancing faculty success through clear policies, efficient processes, and strategic resources.

Within Academic Personnel & Faculty Affairs, two teams carry out this work:

Academic Personnel & Faculty Affairs Operations collaborates across campuses to facilitate recruitment, hiring, retention, and promotion. This team provides detailed guidance on appointments, promotions, tenure, reappointments, separations, and the use of standardized forms, templates, and calendars that streamline faculty management.

International Scholars Operations supports the UW’s global academic community by processing requests for visa sponsorship, offering training and guidance to academic units, and helping international scholars maintain compliance with their visas.

Together, these teams make Academic Personnel & Faculty Affairs a premier resource for fostering academic excellence, supporting professional advancement, and ensuring that UW remains a destination for world-class faculty and scholars.
