Professional Development

Individual Development Plans (IDPs)

Whether you seek to apply your self-discipline to a plan, or are just looking for a prompt to support reflection, an Individual Development Plan might help you approach the next step in your career journey.  Given the breadth of disciplines that find their home at UW, we curate IDP options from broad disciplinary groupings to field-specific tools. Here you can find a selection of IDP resources that might apply to your discipline:

  • For those in STEM fields, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology in partnership with AAAS/Science offers an interactive IDP tool.
  • For those in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Graduate Career Consortium offers ImaginePhD.com, a tool for planning and career exploration.
  • For those in Psychology, APA.org offers IDP resources.

Teaching Development

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers a wealth of resources for teaching development from workshops to consultations, with programs accessible to the Bothell, Seattle, and Tacoma campuses and available online.
