Overview
U.S. law allows employers to sponsor college and university teachers hired through a nationally competitive recruitment in the EB-2 Special Handling pathway. UW sponsors all faculty members for the EB-2 pathway, unless there are flaws in the recruitment that make it ineligible for sponsorship.
All EB-2 sponsorships based on UW employment are processed through International Scholars Operations (ISO) in the Office for Academic Personnel and Faculty. ISO will identify eligible cases as part of their review of the H visa request for initial employment. If no H visa request is submitted for a candidate, units should email ISO to initiate permanent residence sponsorship within 6 months of making the initial offer.
Filing fees of $3520 must be paid to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Units are responsible for paying these filing fees.
