Workflow
The promotion process is extremely complex and can take several months from the start of the process until there is a final decision. Below is a detailed workflow that shows the path a case will take as it works its way from the appointing unit through to the provost.
Outcomes
Along the paths detailed above, there are various outcomes based on the rank and type of promotion action.
Assistant Librarians
Assistant Librarians seeking promotion to Senior Assistant Librarian
- Promotion
- Dean is notified first, who may communicate the outcome to the candidate prior to the official letter being sent Librarians receive a 10% salary increase in accordance with their promotion in rank SEIU 925 Libraries 21.3 and EO 64
- Denial
- Dean is notified first, who may communicate the outcome to the candidate prior to the official letter being sent The librarian will be granted a terminal academic year of employment at the current rank
Senior Assistant Librarians seeking reappointment at Senior Assistant Librarian at year three
- Reappointment
- Dean communicates the outcome to the candidate
- Denial
- The librarian will be granted a terminal academic year of employment at the current rank
Senior Assistant Librarians seeking promotion to Associate Librarian at year three
- Promotion
- Dean is notified first, who may communicate the outcome to the candidate prior to the official letter being sent
- Librarians receive a 10% salary increase in accordance with their promotion in rank SEIU 925 Libraries 21.3 and EO 64
- Denial
