The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery within the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA) at the rank of Teaching Associate on a 12-month service period (Jul 1 – Jun 30), with an estimated start date in Spring 2025. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a faculty position and will be based primarily at the University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW). University of Washington faculty engage in clinical care and teaching, with opportunities for quality improvement and research.
The Advanced Practice Provider in this role is a member of a team that includes attending physicians, surgical residents, and medical students providing services to UW Medicine patients/families and collaborating with other clinical teams, nursing, social workers, and therapists on staff in the inpatient and outpatient setting. This individual will provide comprehensive clinical care for patients with pelvic floor and benign anorectal pathology in the outpatient setting. This will include initial consultation, independently performing clinic-based procedures, discussion of medical and surgical treatment options, and post-operative follow-up. Additionally, the ARNP/PA will provide in-clinic care for routine general surgery for postoperative patients. Care provided in this role is expected to be comprised of approximately 75% outpatient clinic work and 25% inpatient general surgery and colorectal care. One day a week will be spent at UW Medical Center Northwest Hospital assisting with inpatient care as well as in the operating room.
The base salary range for the position will be: $10,834 - $15,391 per month ($130,008 - $184,692 annually) commensurate with years of experience as a licensed ARNP or PA. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include payments for vacancy coverage or premiums for factors such as acuity, nights, call should they apply to service. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid state licensure as an ARNP or PA, and
- Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Graduate of an accredited PA Program
- Nationally Certified ARNP or PA-C with DEA
- Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
- Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients with Surgery conditions requiring inpatient services.
