Position Description
The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for an Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC).
UWMC has a vibrant Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship program. Multiple faculty members are national and international leaders in the field. The Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control will assist with oversight of implementing the overall infection prevention and control plan for the UWMC’s two campuses (Northwest and Montlake), in close coordination with the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and a strong team of healthcare epidemiologists. The successful candidate will provide clinical care to patients on the inpatient and outpatient consultative service at UWMC-Montlake. The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly work in the fields of infectious diseases, as well as teach trainees at all levels. Teaching activities include supervising and mentoring trainees, leading teaching rounds while on clinical service, and outreach to services across the hospital during infection prevention activities. The candidate will help mentor fellows interested in Healthcare Epidemiology/Infection Prevention. Additional didactic and small group teaching opportunities exist at every level of undergraduate and graduate medical education. This position will be expected to support the division's commitment to quality improvement, leadership, and scholarship.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The base salary range for this position will be: $15,448 - $19,732 per month ($185,376 - $236,784 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement for administrative service as Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT). Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is anticipated to start in July 2025 or later.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible/board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Successful candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of infectious disease patients. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
