Title: Clinical Instructor - Primary Care Physician - Family Med for Lopez Island Clinic

Position Details

Position Description

UW Medicine Primary Care is seeking a Family Physician to practice at its clinic on beautiful Lopez Island, WA.

In addition to providing primary care for the rural community of Lopez Island, the clinic works closely with EMS on the island, partnering with paramedics to provide appropriate input and often sees patients for more urgent needs.

The Lopez Clinic team also collaborates with the Public Hospital District, which provides support necessary to operate a robust clinic.

This is a truly unique opportunity for someone to become an integral part of a small community and play a key role in the connected approach to care.

UW Medicine Primary Care offers a complete spectrum of primary care services and is committed to improving the health of the public. The providers are actively engaged in teaching and provide care using the medical home model, creating a friendly and stimulating atmosphere for providers, staff, and patients.

We prioritize unique and comprehensive care delivery to serve the needs of our patients, including behavioral health, care management, lab and radiology, and a fully integrated electronic medical record. Through our affiliation with the world-class University of Washington School of Medicine and the top ranked primary care training program in the United States, our employees have the distinct advantage to provide our patients with an exceptionally high level of innovative care. Electronic consultations and digital health telemedicine with UW Medicine specialists offer a unique and transformative way to practice rural medicine.

Lopez is one of the beautiful San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound of Washington State.  In addition to the vibrant village area where the clinic is located, there are many breathtaking beaches and hikes, and countless opportunities for outdoor activities and wonderful settings for just relaxing and taking in the natural beauty of the island.

Clinical Instructors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  In addition to providing primary care, this role will include some clinical teaching responsibilities.

Base salary for this position will be $17,887 per month ($214,641 per annum) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determination and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) provides eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position includes a minimum guaranteed incentive for the first two years of $13,000 per quarter ($52,000 per annum) through UW Physicians. The incentive is based on both production and quality metrics, with guaranteed incentive pay being based on achieving up to the 45th percentile of production during the period of record; should the provider exceed this level of production, they will receive the higher productivity earned incentive instead.
