Position Description:
The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for 2 full-time Assistant Professors or Associate Professors of Clinical Practice in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. These positions are non-tenure eligible. Salary and academic appointment at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Patient care efforts will occur at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS).

In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. These positions will include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1–June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July–June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The anticipated start date of this position is June 2025 or later.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Salary:
This position is paid directly by the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VAPSHCS for information about compensation for this position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a medical degree (MD/DO) or foreign equivalent. Applicants must be board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine or Palliative Care Medicine. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
