Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine - Montlake and Northwest campuses seeks an outstanding clinical neuromuscular neurologist for an appointment at the Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice track. The position will be based at the University of Washington Medical Center. The successful applicant will be a member of a busy academic service performing a wide variety of clinical duties including general neurology, muscular dystrophy association/amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, electrodiagnostic, autonomic disorders, and neuromuscular disease clinics as outpatient attending. Clinical practice faculty also engaged in teaching medical students and resident trainees, and in research/scholarship service. 

The base salary range for this position in this title will be $17,790 - $20,417 per month ($213,480 to $245,004 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. 

Our salaries are benchmarked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Clinical Practice faculty hold multi-year (3-year Minimum) appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent multi-year terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The anticipated start date for this position is October 1, 2024.

Qualifications

Requirements include:

  • MD or DO or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology and Neuro-Oncology (or eligibility to sit for the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialities accrediation) 
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show  successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
