Position Description

The Laboratory of Dr. Manuel Ferreira in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Professor to enhance its research efforts in understanding oncogenesis. This vital role involves leading molecular technique efforts, focusing on DNA, RNA, and proteomic pathways in oncogenesis, and interpreting advanced sequencing and proteomic techniques. The successful candidate will conduct independent research while collaborating with the lab team, including mentoring and training postdocs, students, and technicians. Key responsibilities include functional validation through cell-based assays, preparing grant reports and proposals, and actively participating in the academic community through research publications.

This is a full-time, 12-month service period appointment, at the Assistant Professor (without tenure) rank with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2024. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $9,167- $11,667 per month ($110,004 to $140,004 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2024

Qualifications

A PhD in life sciences or bioinformatics (or foreign equivalent) is required.

Demonstrated track record of research funding.
