Position Description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking to hire a full-time academic psychology position, which will be based at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). The position will be for an Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure due to funding (WOT). The appointment will be in the University of Washington’s Department of Child Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Child Psychiatry Medicine. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

We are seeking a full-time pediatric psychologist to meet the behavioral health needs of youth within the Neurosciences Center at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The psychologist will prioritize behavioral health needs of youth referred through the Epilepsy programs, which is the only comprehensive epilepsy program in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to providing behavioral health services, the psychologist will also provide consultation and collaborate closely with other members of the Epilepsy and Neurosciences teams to deliver care in service of optimal outcomes.

While this position is primarily clinical in nature, we will also consider candidates who will either bring ongoing funded research activities to Seattle Children’s, or who intend to build an active clinical research program (research activities would not exceed 0.2-0.3 FTE). Modest start-up support may be available depending on the applicant’s interests and qualifications. In addition to collaborations with faculty in the Neurosciences Center, there are also opportunities for collaborating with pediatric psychologists in our other medical programs around training and cross-specialty interventions. In addition, the pediatric psychologist would participate in family and community-oriented education and collaborate in program development. We have a multitier training program and there may be opportunities to participate in our University of Washington APA-accredited psychology internship program.

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to:

  • Doctorate in psychology from an APA-accredited program with strong training in clinical pediatric and child/adolescent psychology; completion of an APA-accredited pediatric or clinical psychology internship; completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology or clinical psychology with a major focus on pediatric psychology; and licensure eligibility in Washington State.
  • We are looking for a psychologist with a wide range of relevant clinical skills, including experience working in medical outpatient clinics, expertise in working with a multi-disciplinary medical care team, and knowledge and experience with patients experiencing neurological conditions, particularly epilepsy.

Salary

The base salary range for an Assistant Professor (WOT) position will be $8,500 - $10,417 per month ($102,000 - $125,004 annually).

The base salary range for an Associate Professor (WOT) position will be $10,500 - $12,500 per month ($126,000 - $160,008 annually).

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Other compensation associated with this position may include an incentive through Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan.

Qualifications

A PhD, PsyD, EdD or foreign equivalent and eligibility for a Washington State license.

APA approved internship or if internship is not APA eligible, then must meet the requirements listed in WAC 246-924-056.
