Several key changes are being introduced for the 2024-2025 Promotion and Tenure (P&T) process that will affect both preparation and submission of records. Key updates include revisions to Faculty Code 24-54, which now require substantial summaries of faculty discussion and votes, as well as sharing of elected faculty council reports and chair/director/campus dean/dean/chancellor independent assessments with candidates in all cases. Additionally, new guidance clarifies that unit and SCC leaders are not eligible to vote on cases they assess, and postponement discussions will occur only after non-favorable mandatory promotion votes.
To streamline administrative work, units are reminded to ensure all candidate records in Workday are fully up-to-date before submission. The Workday report R0722 Academic Promotion/Tenure Data Issues can be used to identify data issues impacting promotion-eligible faculty and librarians. New adjunct appointments should not be made during the review year to avoid complications. All P&T records will be submitted electronically via SharePoint, starting November 4, 2024. To make the process easier, it is recommended that submitted PDFs include bookmarks for easier navigation.
Key Dates for the 2024-2025 Cycle:
- November 4, 2024: SharePoint folders open for submissions.
December 16, 2024: Mandatory promotion and/or tenure records due.
