Position Description

The Hospital Medicine Program, part of the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, is currently accepting online applications for the Academic Hospitalist Fellowship for academic year 2023-24.

The UW Academic Hospitalist Fellowship is designed for graduating internal medicine residents or early-career hospitalists seeking to accelerate their development as clinician-educators and academic leaders. Established in 2018, our fellowship provides the flexibility to pursue individualized career interests alongside a defined curriculum in quality improvement, medical education scholarship, bedside teaching, and career development.

Mission and Vision

The fellowship will provide early career hospitalists with the core skills in quality improvement, teaching, and research needed to become successful clinician-educators and leaders in academic hospital medicine. We envision that graduating fellows will develop successful, enriching careers in academic hospital medicine.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from (or be in the final year of) a residency in Internal Medicine at an accredited, US-based institution.

Instructions

Applications will be accepted starting August 8, 2022.

Candidates will be asked to upload to Interfolio:

1) Cover letter—Please describe your career aspirations, how you envision the fellowship will support those aspirations, any particular projects you hope to launch during the fellowship year, and any special qualifications you want to highlight.

2) CV

3) Letters of Recommendation—Candidates will also need to ask three (3) references to upload Letters of Recommendation into Interfolio. Letters of Recommendation need to include one (1) from their residency/fellowship Program Director in addition to two (2) other professional references.
