The Department of Radiation Oncology treats over 2,800 patients annually from a multi-state region covering over 25% of the U.S. geographic area. The University of Washington has the only Radiation Oncology department in North America that has clinical particle beam delivery systems for both proton and neutron therapy. Our clinical approach is collaborative with numerous multidisciplinary clinics, tumor boards and disease specific chart rounds. At UW Medicine patients with breast cancers are cared for in the multidisciplinary setting with twice a week multidisciplinary clinics and weekly breast tumor boards, as well as close clinical, research, and educational partnerships with the departments of Medical Oncology, Breast Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Radiology, and Pathology. We are a part of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and have strong translational and clinical research collaborations.
