Bloodworks Northwest (BWNW) and the University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, are recruiting two (2) full-time faculty members for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank (without tenure due to funding). These positions would be based at the Bloodworks Research Institute in Seattle. The selected candidates would have the opportunity to provide a high-level research expertise in transfusion medicine, hemostasis and thrombosis, sickle cell anemia, or related fields that complements the activities of the University of Washington and Bloodworks investigators. Teaching duties may include classroom instruction, mentoring, supervising, lab instruction and/or attending on clinical service if applicable. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Position will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date is December 1, 2022.
This position is paid directly by Bloodworks Northwest and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to Bloodworks Northwest for information about compensation for this position.
Qualifications
The selected candidates must have an MD or Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent). For MD candidates, Board certification in Hematology (or foreign equivalent) would also be required for clinical activities. For MD candidates, in order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
