The School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Lecturer Part-Time Temporary faculty position. This position is not tenure eligible. The successful applicant will teach a section of TWRT 331: Writing in the Natural Sciences during Autumn quarter (Sept-Dec) 2022. The Tacoma campus of the University of Washington was founded in 1990 with an interdisciplinary approach at its foundation. It has evolved into a thriving downtown campus that serves students of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds in the South Puget Sound. The base salary range for this position will be $1750 per month per 5-credit course (0.33 FTE) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree or higher in Technical Communication or a relevant field or 2 or more years’ experience teaching writing at the college/university level. The successful applicant will have the ability to use educational technology effectively, engage with students from a culturally diverse population, and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.

- Letter describing your teaching experience, qualifications, and academic interests (Applicants should detail how their teaching, service and/or scholarship has supported the success of students from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in their academic field; applicants who have not yet had the opportunity for such experience should note how their work will further UW Tacoma’s commitment to diversity);
- Curriculum vitae, including a list of courses taught and/or relevant industry experience.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (course evaluations and/or a video teaching demonstration and sample syllabi); and
- Three letters of reference speaking to skills and areas of expertise relevant to this position
