Title: Assistant or Associate Professor (WOT), Medical Oncology (Breast Oncology)

Position Details

Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) are jointly recruiting for two (2) full-time faculty members in the Division of Medical Oncology, to join our clinical research group focused on breast cancers. This position would be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs related to breast cancers. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop his/her own clinical research program. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct clinical research in breast cancers. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Division of Medical Oncology. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of housestaff and fellows during ambulatory and inpatient activities and delivery of lectures to housestaff, fellows, and the general medical community.

The base salary range for this position will be: $21,167 - $28,167 per month ($254,004 - $338,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  Please see additional benefits that may be available:  https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf

This position will require work to be performed on-site at a Fred Hutch Cancer (Fred Hutch) facility. Fred Hutch requires all individuals, including University of Washington faculty clinicians, working at a Fred Hutch facility to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unlike UW’s vaccination policy which is appended below, the Fred Hutch policy does not provide for religious or medical exemptions. As such, a UW offer associated with this recruitment is contingent upon, among other things, the preferred candidate demonstrating that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by no later than the commencement of their appointment.

Anticipated start date would be February 1, 2023.
