Position Description

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position. This position will be at the Assistant Professor level, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), and will have clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  This position is anticipated to start in July 2022.

The successful candidate will develop an independent research program with active publication in peer-reviewed journal, obtain and maintain research funding through grants and contracts, and provide mentorship. They will complete ongoing independent research on tuberculosis transmission modeling and obtain independent research funding from federal and private sources. The candidate will participate in a combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient consult attending on the infectious diseases clinical service at the VA Puget Sound Healthcare Systems (VAPSHCS). The duties of this position include publishing in the field of infectious diseases, teaching infectious disease trainees at the student, resident, and fellow level, and mentoring. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible/ board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Successful candidates must demonstrate at least two years documented expertise and publications in tuberculosis transmission modeling.  Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
