The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is offering an outstanding opportunity for a physiatrist to join our faculty as Associate Chief of the Rehabilitation Medicine Division of Sports & Spine. This full-time, multiyear, clinical track appointment will have a 12-month academic calendar (July 1 – June 30) and be appointed at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor, commensurate with experience. Multiyear clinical appointments at UW vary in duration from 2-5 years and are eligible for renewal. Initial period of appointment will be commensurate with departmental need and the candidate's experience. This position is not eligible for tenure. Anticipated start date is September 1, 2022, but other dates may be considered.

The base salary range for this position will be: Clinical Associate Professors $18,333 - $22,584 per month ($219,996 - $271,008 annually), Clinical Professors $23,083 - $25,275 per month ($276,996 - $303,300 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following, if applicable: incentive through UW Physicians (UWP), moving allowance, relocation incentive. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

This position will be based primarily on the Harborview Medical Center campus in the Sports and Spine Center. Clinical duties include caring for patients with general MSK and sports related conditions, including sports concussions and spine care needs. The clinical scope of practice will include sports and general musculoskeletal injuries, spine injuries and pain, sports concussions, and active patients seeking exercise/fitness regimens. This position practices in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. This work requires strong collaboration with treatment team members, including the surgical teams.  As the Associate Chief of the Division of Sports & Spine, the individual hired will work closely with the Division Chief to provide clinical oversight and strategic development of the Division of Sports & Spine and to define and document best practices, clinical protocols and pathways. The Associate Service Chief also will provide rehabilitation leadership in UW-wide initiatives that pertain to the Sports and Spine Division.

The successful candidate must have a medical degree (MD, DO, or foreign equivalent), must have or be eligible for medical licensure by the state of Washington, and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Additionally, the successful candidate must meet requirements for appointment at no less than the Clinical Associate Professor rank, must have successfully completed fellowship training in sports medicine or spine/pain, must have experience with procedures including but not limited to lumbar spinal injections, and must have medical leadership experience.
