Position Description

The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is offering an outstanding opportunity for a physiatrist to join our faculty as Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Spine Service. This full-time, multiyear, clinical track appointment will have a 12-month academic calendar (July 1 – June 30) and be appointed at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor, commensurate with experience. Multiyear clinical appointments at UW vary in duration from 2-5 years and are eligible for renewal. Initial period of appointment will be commensurate with departmental need and the candidate's experience. This position is not eligible for tenure. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2022, but other dates may be considered.

This clinical track position will be based primarily on the Harborview Medical Center campus in the Sports and Spine Center. Clinical duties include caring for patients with general MSK conditions and spine care needs. As the Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Spine Service, the individual hired will lead the ongoing program development and implementation of strategic initiatives including but not limited to a comprehensive non-operative spine program and spine service line implementation. Service line responsibilities will include spine-related clinical activities and administrative leadership of non-operative spine issues across UW Medicine.

Our patient and family-centered academic hospital-based rehabilitation program offers tertiary care for a five-state region, serving a wide range of diagnoses. This position practices in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a medical degree (MD, DO, or foreign equivalent), must have or be eligible for medical licensure by the state of Washington, and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Additionally, the successful candidate must meet requirements for appointment at no less than the Clinical Associate Professor rank, must have spine and general MSK expertise, and must have medical leadership experience.
