Position Description

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the University of Washington is searching for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor Tenure-track. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month active service period full-time position that is open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022. 

The Department resides at the School of Dentistry and is affiliated with University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake (UWMC), UWMC-Northwest, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and Puget Sound VA Hospital.

This position will engage in clinical activities as part of the faculty practice, provide excellent patient care, teach and mentor residents and dental students, and contribute to the Department’s scholarly mission. The successful candidate will practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and have a niche clinical, teaching, or research interest. The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal commitment to the goals and ideals of academic service by working in a teaching environment, collaborate in a dialectic culture, and observing evidence-based clinical practices.

Qualifications

  • DMD or DDS degree from an ADA-accredited institution or foreign equivalent 
  • Completion of a residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery
  • ABOMS (American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) board-eligible or certified
  • Eligible for dental licensure in the State of Washington
  • Positive factors for consideration include but are not limited to:
    • Interest in the didactic and clinical teaching of office-based anesthesia
    • MD or secondary degree in a related field.
