Position Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington, seeks a pathologist as an Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure), due to reasons of funding, to join our Division of Hematopathology and the Gastrointestinal, Hepatic, and Pancreatic Service (GI) on the clinician-educator pathway. Clinical responsibilities will include diagnostic interpretation in the full spectrum of gastrointestinal pathology as practiced within UW Medicine and in the following areas of hematopathology: morphology of lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows. This will include teaching hematology / hematopathology to students, residents and fellows. Applicants are expected to be involved in administrative aspects of the services and their supporting labs (including new test development) and to develop an area of focused research / scholarly work.

This is a full-time, 12-month service position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022, but is flexible.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or –certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology). The candidate should additionally either be Board-eligible or –certified in Hematopathology. Subspecialty expertise in Hematopathology is required. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
