Position Description

The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Occupational Therapy, invites applications for up to two full-time Assistant Teaching Professor positions to join our faculty. These positions are not tenure-eligible and have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30). Initial appointments may range from 1 to 5 years, with the possibility of renewal. Start date may be as early as Summer 2022, but later dates may be considered. 

The base salary range for this position will be $7,750 - 9,834  per month ($93,000 - $118,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. 

Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance or relocation incentive, if applicable.

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine offers a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. Opportunities will be available for building an academic career that includes teaching, research opportunities, and program development.

The Assistant Teaching Professors will teach required courses in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program (MOT) on topics such as pediatrics, physical disabilities, and/or assistive technology. Additional duties will include graduate project and general student advising, as well as engagement in scholarship, curriculum evaluation and development and other teaching administration activities. There may also be an opportunity to assist with fieldwork coordination activities.

The Department has an exceptional record of successful extramural research funding and interprofessional collaboration.

Located on the Seattle campus, the UW MOT Program enrolls approximately 24 students per year and collaborates with other medical and research centers within and beyond the University.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Initial National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
  • Must hold or be eligible for occupational therapy licensure in the state of Washington
  • At least three years of experience in occupational therapy practice
  • Demonstrated expertise in a clinical area of occupational therapy including, but not limited to, adult physical disabilities practice, pediatrics, and/or assistive technology

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
