The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Research, is offering an outstanding opportunity for two (2) academic researchers to join our faculty. These will be full-time appointments with an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30), appointed at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non tenure-eligible). Anticipated start date is July 1, 2022, but other dates may be considered.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine offers a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. Opportunities will be available for building an academic career that includes teaching, research opportunities, and program development.
As members of the Research Division, the successful candidates will be expected to lead and collaborate on research projects in the field of rehabilitation science. The Research Assistant Professors may also participate in teaching-related activities with departmental research assistants and postdoctoral fellows.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is nationally recognized for excellence in education, research, and clinical care. The Department’s various research programs led by world-renowned leaders in Rehabilitation Science -- as well as academic programs including the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MPO), Master of Occupational Therapy, and PhD in Rehabilitation Science programs -- provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research, teaching, and learning. The Department has an exceptional record of successful extramural research funding and interprofessional collaboration.
Ranked #5 in US News & World Report, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a dynamic academic and clinical department in the University of Washington School of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals, which include the UW Medical Centers, Harborview Medical Center, Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health Care System, and Seattle Children’s Hospital. The department currently holds $19 million in grants from federal and foundation funding sources.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must
- have PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a discipline related to rehabilitation medicine (e.g., psychology, rehabilitation science)
- evidence a track record in rehabilitation research, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
