Position Description

The University of Washington’s Department of Ophthalmology is currently recruiting for a full-time clinical optometrist. The Teaching Associate appointment is a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30), with reappointment recommendation on an annual basis.  Anticipated start date is spring/summer 2022.

Candidate will provide optometric patient care at UW Medicine’s Karalis Johnson Retina Center in Seattle and other University of Washington affiliated sites of practice including UW Neighborhood Clinics.  

Candidate will participate in the teaching mission of the department as well as provide excellent optometric care. Responsibilities include clinical care, and teaching of medical students and ophthalmology residents in an academic setting.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold an OD degree or equivalent and have a minimum of two years of experience as an optometrist and be eligible for licensure in the State of Washington. Experience in fitting schleral lenses is a plus.
