Position Description
The Department of Neurological Surgery at UW Medicine seeks a full-time Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding in the clinician-scientist track. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The applicant’s primary duties include participation in and expansion of established neurosurgical clinical programs in the Alvord Brain Tumor Center, specializing in skull based tumors including anterior skull base/sinonasal malignancies, pituitary tumors, vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, and intrinsic gliomas. Duties include direct clinical care and teaching of medical students, residents, and skull base fellows.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in academic pursuits including but not limited to translational or basic research of brain tumors (including glioma).
The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2022. Assistant Professors in the Department of Neurological Surgery have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30].
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have expertise in both traditional open and minimally invasive endonasal endoscopic skull base surgical approaches, in addition to expertise in cerebrovascular surgery.
Applicants must have an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent). An M.D./Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.
Applicants must have completed a neurological surgery fellowship training program.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
