Position Description

The Division of Hematology/Oncology and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting 2 full-time Pediatric Oncologists on the Faculty Scientist track at the level of Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a multi-year appointment over a 12 month service period, July 1 to June 30. Anticipated start date is Winter or Spring 2022.

This position will demonstrate a commitment to basic and/or translational cancer research that is relevant to children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer. Ample laboratory space and resources for the candidate will be provided by the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, where the investigator will join the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research.

In addition to leading their own independent research program, the candidate will provide up to 25% effort to the clinical care of patients as part of a talented multidisciplinary team at Seattle Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric cancer program in the Pacific Northwest.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), and be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Applicants must have completed a pediatric residency and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship.

Applicants must provide evidence of research productivity in and commitment to basic/translational pediatric oncology research.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Applicants will also be expected to conduct a formal presentation to our faculty, which would highlight their current research and plans for developing an externally-funded, independent research program.
