Position Description
University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist/pain medicine position available at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor primarily based at our outpatient comprehensive pain treatment facility, the UW Center for Pain Relief. This position is not tenure eligible and is full-time with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). The anticipated start date is January 2022 or soon thereafter. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties include providing advanced interventional pain treatment in the setting of comprehensive pain consultation and care to patients across Washington State and the WWAMI region. Care includes non-opioid management, procedures (fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided including neuromodulation), and coordinating behavioral health and psychology/psychiatry, physical therapy, and integrative medicine. Duties also include clinical teaching of anesthesiology residents, fellows and others and supervision of clinical care team. For appropriate candidates there are opportunities for time focused on regional anesthesia, the inpatient Acute Pain Service, or funded clinical research.
Qualifications
Must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and ACGME accredited fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) and board certification/eligibility (or foreign equivalent) in Pain Medicine. Must obtain state of Washington medical licensure by start of appointment. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
