Position Description
The Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine requests applications and nominations for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure by reason of funding). This position will have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30). The salary and rank is commensurate with applicant’s training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Winter 2021-2022.
The position’s primary clinical responsibility will be the provision of a wide range of evaluation, consultation and surgical treatment services for adult vascular surgery patients at the University of Washington Medical center – Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW). This position will take a full complement of system call covering Harborview Medical Center, UWMC – Montlake and Northwest Campuses.
The Vascular Surgery practice at UWMC-NW is diverse. The clinical responsibilities for this position include:
- Complex Open and Endovascular Aortic Procedures for Aneurysm, Dissection, Trauma, and Infection
- Vascular Trauma
- Dialysis Access
- Limb Preservation; both open and endovascular procedures
- Vascular Access
- Intra-operative Vascular Emergencies
- Carotid
- Other Aneurysmal Disease
- Amputation
In addition to clinical practice the position will participate in the education of surgical residents and medical students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an area of scholarly expertise, as expected of every faculty member, in consultation with the Division and Section Chiefs. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Qualifications
Prospective candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent), and be board eligible in vascular and endovascular surgery (or foreign equivalent) by July 1, 2021.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
