Position Details

Position Description

The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience, in the Breast Imaging Section.  The Breast Imaging Section is comprised of 7 clinical and 1 research faculty member and 4 fellows.  This position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023.  Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Associate Professors WOT and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period  (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the breast imaging service, instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology residents and breast imaging fellows, and pursuit of academic interests.  The breast imaging section provides clinical coverage and teaching at our medical centers (UW Medical Center – Montlake Campus, UW Medical Center – Northwest Campus, Harborview Medical Center, and Fred Hutchingson Cancer Center).  The successful faculty candidate will be expected to perform clinical work in all aspects of breast imaging at both the UW Medical Center – Northwest Campus and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center sites.  Under the direction of Dr. Janie Lee, the section is closely integrated with clinical and research programs throughout the UW Medical Center and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, to provide the highest level of comprehensive care for breast disease.  All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The University of Washington (UW) is the nation’s top public educational and research institution. The School of Medicine has been ranked second in the world, among the top two recipients of federal research grants. Our hospitals consistently rank among the very best for patient care in the nation, as does the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center for cancer care delivery. The UW Department of Radiology is internationally recognized as dynamic, progressive, and high impact in the field of Diagnostic Imaging. Our academic enterprise complements the clinical, teaching and research activities of one of the nation's leading healthcare delivery enterprises.

Seattle is a cosmopolitan city set in a dramatic backdrop of water, forests and mountains. It is famous for its vibrant downtown neighborhoods and many cultural strengths – consistently ranked among the top urban areas for quality of life. Our staff enjoy outstanding benefits, strong support for professional growth, and an environment noted for diversity, community involvement, intellectual excitement, and artistic pursuits.
