Position Description

The VA Puget Sound Healthcare System and the University of Washington, Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine in Seattle are seeking applicants for a, full-time clinical faculty position (1.0 FTE). This position has an annual service period of 12-months [July 1-June 30]) at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor.  This position will serve as the Section Head for the Division of Nephrology’s VA section and may also work in one or both of the following units: inpatient wards and subspecialty clinic area. The VA section of Nephrology has a long and rich tradition of scholarship, leadership locally and nationally, and currently includes eight faculty members. The section head will oversee the clinical, educational, and research operations in Nephrology at the VA.  The position will, as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the Subspecialty Board of Nephrology, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to patients who present with kidney diseases. The highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is required at all times in the position’s contact with patients, peers and all other employees. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.  This position is anticipated to start July 1, 2021.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must prove successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved post-graduate residency in Medicine or Equivalent. They must possess an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be ABIM board certified (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must also be board-certified in nephrology. Any U.S. citizen may apply. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.
