Position Description

The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics invites applications for a full time faculty position as an Associate Professor (without tenure) or Professor (without tenure), with rank commensurate with experience and qualifications on the Clinician-Scholar track. This is a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). As a Director of the ACGME Fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics in the Safe Child and Adolescent Network, the successful applicant will engage in clinical work and post-graduate medical education.  Anticipated start date is summer/fall 2021.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  The successful clinician-scholar will be expected to engage in an area of scholarly activity that complements the clinical work proposed. The position includes protected time for scholarly work.

Protected administrative time will also be provided for fellowship direction. The director is expected to recruit and oversees selection of new fellows, develop and maintain a curriculum of didact and experiential learning that meets ACGME requirements, and provide support and mentorship to fellows as they develop clinically, academically and interpersonally.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have earned an MD, DO, or (foreign equivalent), be board certified in pediatrics, fellowship trained and board-certified or board-eligible in child abuse pediatrics. The successful candidate will have relevant academic scholarship (publications, curriculae) and experience in the field of child abuse pediatrics.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
