Position Description

The School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Lecturer Part-Time Temporary faculty position.  This position is not tenure eligible.  The length of appointment is 3 months to teach one section of TWRT 291: Technical Communication in the Workplace during Spring quarter (March 16-June 15) of 2021. The Tacoma campus of the University of Washington was founded in 1990 with an interdisciplinary approach at its foundation. Qualifications

Candidates should have a Master's degree or higher in Technical Communication or a relevant field or 2 or more years’ experience teaching Technical Communication at the college/university level. The successful applicant will have the ability to use educational technology effectively, have experience with online teaching, and have the ability to engage with students from a culturally diverse population, and a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.

  1. Letter describing your teaching experience, qualifications, and academic interests (Applicants should detail how their teaching, service and/or scholarship has supported the success of students from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in their academic field; applicants who have not yet had the opportunity for such experience should note how their work will further UW Tacoma’s commitment to diversity);
  2. Curriculum vitae, including a list of courses taught;
  3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness (course evaluations and/or a video teaching demonstration and sample syllabi); and
  4. Three letters of reference.
