Position Description
The University of Washington School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic rehabilitation, health, and/or pain psychologist position available at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor. This position is without tenure and is full-time with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). The anticipated start date is May 2021 or soon thereafter. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties include inpatient consultation and liaison for complex pain patients; brief assessment and intervention, including evidence based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness/meditation, motivational interviewing (MI), relapse prevention, and harm reduction. Duties also include clinical teaching and supervising psychology and anesthesiology residents, fellows and others. The psychologist will help to facilitate team dynamics, clinical service delivery, and engage in clinical scholarship.
Qualifications
Must have PhD or PsyD degree (or foreign equivalent) in clinical psychology or counseling psychology and obtain state of Washington psychology licensure. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
