Position Description
The University of Washington is currently recruiting for a full-time clinical position in comprehensive ophthalmology, based at Harborview Medical Center. This appointment is a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30), with reappointment recommendation on an annual basis. Anticipated start date is spring 2022.
This appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate or full Professor will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Qualified candidates of all levels of experience will be considered.
Responsibilities include clinical care, resident and fellow supervision and training including both medical and surgical training, and teaching of medical students.
Candidates will be expected to provide medical and surgical care, including evaluation and treatment of consult and emergency patients at the University of Washington affiliated sites of practice which include Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Centers and at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and have completed ophthalmology residency (or foreign equivalent) and one or more years of postgraduate training in the management of corneal disease and surgery.
A strong interest in academic ophthalmology including pursuing substantial teaching and scholarly research is required. Applicants must be American Board of Ophthalmology-certified (or foreign equivalent) or Board eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
