Position Description

The University of Washington is currently recruiting for a full-time physician specializing in corneal disease.  This position will be based at Harborview Medical Center. This position is without tenure due to funding and is a 12-month service period appointment (July 1-June 30). Anticipated start date is summer 2021.

This appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, without tenure due to source of funding, and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Qualified candidates of all levels of experience will be considered.

Responsibilities include clinical care, resident and fellow supervision and training including both medical and surgical training and teaching of medical students. 

Candidates will be expected to provide medical and surgical cornea care, including treatment of consult and emergency patients and surgery at the University of Washington affiliated sites of practice which include Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center and at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in substantial teaching and scholarly research in academic ophthalmology.  Protected time for academic endeavors will be provided.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and have completed ophthalmology residency (or foreign equivalent) and one or more years of postgraduate training in the management of corneal disease and surgery.  

Applicants must be American Board of Ophthalmology-certified (or foreign equivalent) or Board eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
