The Department of Epidemiology within the School of Public Health at the University of Washington seeks a creative, collaborative, and forward-thinking individual to join our faculty. As part of a multiple-hire process, we invite applications for one faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor – Tenured in the Department of Epidemiology. This position is full time (100% FTE) with a 12-month service period and potential anticipated start date as early as Autumn 2021. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to:

  1. Provide educational leadership including classroom teaching and student mentoring with emphasis on utilizing innovative pedagogy and increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism;
  2. Develop and maintain a high-impact research program including extramurally funded projects;
  3. Support the School’s priority of enhancing faculty instruction and research in social determinants of health including intersections with social identities that have been marginalized, especially race and ethnicity;
  4. Increase instructional and research capacity in a diverse range of epidemiologic and interdisciplinary methods; and
  5. Contribute to the Department’s mission through serving on committees and collaborating with other faculty members, staff, students, partners, and community stakeholders.

Applicants must have:

  1. A doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in epidemiology or a related field;
  2. A record of high-quality teaching, mentorship, and research;
  3. Strong skills in communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams; and
  4. Demonstrates experience in increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

For this position, we welcome applicants from all lines of scholarly inquiry that inform public health, including but not limited to Neuroepidemiology and Epidemiology of Aging, Social Epidemiology, Injury and Violence Epidemiology, Substance Use Epidemiology, Reproductive Epidemiology, Genetic Epidemiology, and Epidemiologic Methods.
