Position Description

The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics and Seattle's Children's Hospital are recruiting a pediatric academic physician with clinical and research interests in therapeutic endoscopy and pancreas care.

The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division with 16 pediatric GI subspecialists is the largest program in the Pacific Northwest and the only program offering liver and small bowel transplantation. The program provides excellent care in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, gastrointestinal motility, acute and chronic liver disease, liver and intestine transplantation, intestinal rehabilitation, and nutrition evaluation and management.  In addition to the active clinical program, the GI division has a robust research portfolio with almost 100 active clinical trials in gastroenterology and hepatology. The division has successful training programs in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology as well as Transplant Hepatology.

Appointment as full time Professor (without tenure due to funding) of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, School of Medicine, will be commensurate with experience, training and achievement.  This is a 12-month service period. Anticipated start date is Summer of 2021.

This position would involve teaching, research, and clinical service.  Protected administrative time is included within the job description to focus on the development and maintenance of the endoscopy program in conjunction with hospital and division leadership.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an MD (or foreign equivalent), will have completed a Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship, and be board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
