Position Description

The Department of Urology at the University of Washington is seeking a urologist to join the established, community-arm of the urological surgery program at University of Washington.The position is a full-time, 12-months per year, academic position (commensurate with experience and qualifications) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level without tenure (WOT), due to funding. The anticipated start date for the position is January 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will address the need for more clinical FTE to meet current general urology demands at UW Medical Center, including the Montlake, Northwest, and Eastside Specialty Clinic campuses. Clinical responsibilities will focus on general urology in a multidisciplinary environment and will include outpatient evaluation and management, inpatient and outpatient urological surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and ER consultation coverage. The Department of Urology has an established and high volume urology practice, a large clinical population from the state of Washington and four neighboring states, active research programs, and an extremely strong academic urology faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and growth of the Department's practice, primarily focusing on aspects of general urology.

The University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Duties of the position include demonstration clinical excellence in the management of urologic conditions. Thus, the candidate must demonstrate clinical excellence and a commitment to teach residents, fellows and students; interested applicants may propose a research program. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The position is open until filled.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be a board-certified or board qualified urologist with minimum of 12 months experience in a general urologic practice supporting a urologic oncology program. Further, the candidate must have a wide experience in general urology and possess the required credentials to gain privileges for all urological surgeries at applicable UW Medicine sites.

All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. VAPSHCS hiring and eligibility requirements will apply to this position.
